42 km cut-off

42 km runners must start the second lap no later than 14:00. After 14:00, runners are not permitted to start the second lap.

Arrival and parking

Parking is available at the Lapinsalmi parking area next to the race centre and, if necessary, at additional areas designated by the organiser.

Parking space is limited, so we strongly encourage participants to carpool whenever possible.

Please follow the instructions of the organiser and traffic marshals. Arrive well in advance of the 10:00 start.

Race bibs

Race bibs are collected from the race information area before the start.

The bibs will be hanging in numerical order along the side of the race information area. Each bib is hung using one safety pin.

Please bring your own safety pins to attach your race bib.

The race bib must be clearly visible on the front of the runner throughout the race.

Courses

The race distances are 10 km, 21 km and 42 km.

The 21 km course is the main course. The 42 km course consists of two laps, each approximately 22 km. The 10 km course branches off from the main route onto a shorter loop.

The courses follow established trails and outdoor routes in Repovesi National Park. The terrain includes rocks, roots, steep climbs and descents, stairs, as well as faster trail and road sections.

In late October, the course may be wet, slippery and occasionally icy. Adjust your speed to the conditions.

We recommend studying the course maps and GPX files before the race.

Course markings

The 21 km and 42 km courses are marked with red/orange ground flags and additional red crepe tape. Direction signs are also used at key junctions.

The 10 km course is marked with blue ground flags and additional direction signs where necessary.

Each participant is responsible for following the course markings.

If you realise you have left the marked course, return along the same route to the point where you left the course and continue from there.

Taking shortcuts or intentionally leaving the marked route to gain an advantage is prohibited and may result in disqualification.

Aid stations

10 km

There is no official aid station on the 10 km course.

21 km

1 aid station.

42 km

3 aid stations.

42 km runners use the aid station on the first lap and an additional aid station between the two laps. The next aid station is located on the second lap.

Aid stations provide water, Leader sports drink and energy-rich snacks.

The event is cup-free. Disposable cups are not provided at the aid stations, so each participant must carry their own cup, bottle or hydration pack.

Water wells in Repovesi

There are also public water wells close to the race route in Repovesi National Park. Participants may use these wells to refill water independently.

The wells are not official race aid stations and no race services are provided there. Please check any event-day notices regarding the availability and water quality of the wells.

Equipment

Mandatory equipment for all distances

  • Race bib
  • Your own cup, bottle or other drinking container

Additional mandatory equipment for the 42 km

  • A working headlamp or other suitable running light
  • A fully charged mobile phone

The headlamp must be carried from the beginning of the race. Daylight decreases quickly in late October, and the final section of the longest course may be completed in dusk or darkness.

Recommended equipment

  • Trail running shoes
  • Hydration vest or water bottle
  • Your own additional energy
  • GPX route on your phone or sports watch
  • Whistle
  • Emergency blanket
  • Elastic or first-aid bandage
  • Weather-appropriate extra clothing

For the 42 km course, we also recommend carrying a backup light or spare batteries/power source. The organiser may update the mandatory equipment requirements before the event if weather conditions require it.

Running poles

Running poles are permitted. If you start the race with poles, you must carry them for the entire race.

Please consider other runners when using poles and keep them under control during overtaking.

Trail running etiquette and race rules

Repovesi Trail takes place in a national park, and the trails remain open to other visitors during the event.

Stay on the marked route

Follow the organiser's course markings. Intentional shortcuts are prohibited. If you leave the course, return to the point where you left the marked route.

Consider other runners

When overtaking another runner, clearly announce your intention. If a faster runner approaches from behind and asks to pass, allow them space at a safe location whenever possible.

Consider other park visitors

The trails are not closed to the public. You may encounter hikers, children, dogs and other visitors in the national park.

Race participants do not have priority over other park visitors. Slow down when necessary and pass other visitors safely and politely.

Respect nature

Stay on the marked route and avoid unnecessary movement outside established trails. Do not damage vegetation or structures in the national park.

Littering is prohibited

Everything you take onto the course must also be taken out. Energy gel wrappers, food packaging and other litter must not be left on the course.

Intentional littering may result in disqualification.

Help others when needed

Every participant has a duty to assist someone in need on the course. In a serious emergency, call 112. Safety always takes priority over your race result.

Follow officials' instructions

Participants must follow instructions given by the organiser, first-aid staff and course officials. The organiser has the right to stop a participant's race for health or safety reasons.

First aid and safety

The main first-aid point is located at the race centre.

In a serious or urgent emergency, always call 112 first. In other situations, contact the race organiser or the nearest course official.

The organiser does not provide insurance for participants. Each participant is responsible for their own insurance coverage and for ensuring that their health and equipment are suitable for the event.

Retiring from the race

You must always inform the organiser if you retire from the race.

Report your retirement to the nearest aid station or course official and make sure the information reaches the race centre or finish.

Do not leave the event area without reporting your retirement. This allows the organiser to confirm that everyone who started the race has safely returned and prevents unnecessary search operations.

Finish

The finish is located at the race centre in Lapinsalmi. The finish closes at 18:00.

Post-race meal

The entry fee includes a post-race meal, served immediately after your race.

Special dietary requirements must be provided to the organiser during registration.

Café RepoTassu

Café RepoTassu is open at the race centre during the event and serves coffee, drinks and light snacks.

The café is open to runners, supporters and spectators.

Prizes

There are men's and women's categories for all distances. The top three runners in each category will be awarded prizes provided by our event partners.

Additional prizes will also be raffled among all participants.

Results

Live results will be available during the event. A link to the results service will be published on the Repovesi Trail website before race day.

Photography

Photos and video will be taken during the event. The material may be used on the Repovesi Trail website, social media channels and in event communications and marketing.
